A field team works to reap or break 2/3 of the tree for each harvest. This method ensures a profitable harvest and insures optimum growth for the next season. The breaking/reaping of the leaves, and separating the berries and branches from the leaves is an incredibly labor intensive task. Once separated from the leaves and branches, the berries are steam distilled to produce allspice essential oil.
